2ŁØT Confront the Restlessness That Follows Success on “I Want It All”
Reaching a long-imagined destination does not always quiet the urge to keep moving. That unresolved feeling drives “I Want It All,” the latest single from 2ŁØT and the final preview of the band’s sophomore album, RE/SOLVE, due September 25th.
Featuring Mariel Jacoda, the song considers how ambition changes once an old definition of success has been fulfilled. Its lyrics look back on the desire to become someone, then acknowledge the strange reality of reaching that point without achieving permanent satisfaction. Gratitude and longing coexist, suggesting that fulfillment may be temporary by nature.
That tension places “I Want It All” in an important position within RE/SOLVE. The 16-track record is built around what 2ŁØT calls the “Second Hero’s Journey,” a framework focused on the uncertain period after struggle and triumph. Instead of ending when its central figure succeeds, the story continues through reflection, disillusionment, connection, loss, and renewal.
“I Want It All” arrives at the far end of that cycle. The person who began the journey has changed, yet the transformation has produced new desires rather than a tidy resolution. By leaving those desires intact, the song allows the album to conclude without pretending that personal growth follows a straight line.
Jacoda joins 2ŁØT’s blend of live instrumentation and electronic production, a combination the five-piece describes as Electronic Jam Music. That approach brings hip hop, funk, soul, jazz, rock, improvisation, and electronic elements into the same space, giving the group room to approach its central ideas from several musical directions.
The new single follows a broad sequence of releases from RE/SOLVE. “Favorite Star” addressed the experience of outgrowing a former self, while “Come Together” examined trust inside a developing relationship. “Tread,” featuring Frank Moka, emphasized jazz-informed interplay, and “Lose My Mind” turned toward the emotional aftermath of a fractured relationship.
Other previews expanded the album’s collaborative reach. “I Hurt Myself Again” featured Elise Trouw and 2026 NPR Tiny Desk Contest winner Cameron McCloud, while “Iris” brought in GRAMMY-winning guitarist Eric Krasno and members of The Funky Knuckles. The full album also includes appearances from Jon Batiste and Robert Randolph.
Those guests enter a project whose concerns extend beyond stylistic fusion. Formed during a period of loss and major personal change, 2ŁØT has connected its music with addiction awareness and prevention, youth empowerment, and criminal justice reform. The band’s current chapter turns that outward purpose toward questions of identity and self-understanding.
