If you listen to one EP this week, make it Too Much And Not Enough, Vol. 1 by Lauren Alex Hooper — a bold, intimate, and emotionally resonant alt-pop project that demands your attention. Why?

First, it offers a rare and authentic perspective on autism, written by someone living it.

Second, the songwriting is exquisitely vulnerable, with metaphors and lyrics that cut deep without ever losing hope.

Third, Hooper’s vocals are hauntingly honest, delivering raw emotion without artifice.

Fourth, the production is thoughtfully layered — shimmering in places, stripped back in others — always serving the story.

And fifth, this EP isn’t just music; it’s connection, validation, and advocacy wrapped in melody.

Speaking on the release, Lauren Alex Hooper shares, “Growing up, I couldn’t find any music that I related to and it wasn’t until I was diagnosed as autistic - among other things - that I realised why: nobody was writing about autistic experiences. So I decided that that was what I needed to do: for those going through experiences similar to my own, for my younger self, and for my current self. And it became clear very quickly that this project is only the beginning of this journey.”
