Alternative Escape 2026 Brings Global Breakout Talent to Brighton for The Great Escape Week

Brighton’s Great Escape week is about to get a serious injection of noise, attitude and discovery as Planetary Group and Impressive PR unveil the return of Alternative Escape 2026. Taking place on Thursday 14th May at the Secret Comedy Club in Brighton Square, the official Alternative Escape event will once again transform the cult-favourite venue into one of the hottest destinations of the festival. Running across two packed sessions — 12pm to 4pm and 6pm to 10pm — the showcase promises a full day of boundary-pushing new music from some of the most exciting emerging acts across Australia, Canada and the UK.

Curated by two of the most respected names in independent music publicity, Alternative Escape has rapidly become known as the place where future festival headliners first make their mark. Planetary Group’s global radio and artist development pedigree combines with Impressive PR’s deep roots in the UK alternative scene to create a line-up that blends indie-rock, post-punk, dream-pop, garage-rock and experimental sounds into one carefully crafted bill. This year’s showcase includes breakout Australian indie trio Fool Nelson, whose explosive live reputation and massive choruses have already earned praise from Rolling Stone and BBC Radio 1, alongside Montreal’s hypnotic post-rock duo Yoo Doo Right and rising alt-pop favourites Joan & The Giants.

The afternoon line-up continues with Winnipeg dream-pop collective sundayclub and Adelaide’s warm-hearted ‘cosy-pop’ outfit The Tullamarines, before the evening session turns up the intensity. Welsh punk trio CHROMA arrive armed with the razor-sharp political urgency of new album 25 Forever, while Brighton’s own My Life Story return for a special acoustic performance celebrating frontman Jake Shillingford’s incredible four-decade career. Manchester garage-punks The Sick Fix bring youthful adrenaline and swagger, Sheffield singer-songwriter Sam Scherdel delivers emotionally charged indie-rock anthems, and London outsider SONNY E. showcases his self-styled ‘Cyberbilly’ fusion of rockabilly futurism and electronic chaos.

Adding even more intrigue to the bill is the arrival of very special guests Bonnie Trash. The Canadian twin-sister duo have built a growing international reputation through their dark, gothic blend of post-punk and cinematic horror rock, recently earning acclaim for their album Mourning You and a string of intense live performances across Europe and North America. Closing out the night are London newcomers Sweet Unrest, whose explosive live sets and self-described ‘Gritpop’ sound have already propelled them onto the UK vinyl charts and into the centre of London’s buzzing alternative underground.

With a carefully curated schedule, a fiercely independent spirit and a reputation for spotlighting artists on the verge of major breakthroughs, Alternative Escape 2026 looks set to become one of the defining events of this year’s Great Escape festival.
