From Royal Celebrations to Christmas Stages: The Overtones Return

Few British vocal groups have experienced a career quite as varied as The Overtones. Over the past 15 years, the quartet have performed everywhere from royal celebrations and international sporting events to some of the UK’s most distinguished theatres. This winter, Prestige Productions will bring that experience back to audiences across the country with Jivin’ Home For Christmas, a 22-date tour designed to provide an exuberant musical welcome to the festive season.
The scale of The Overtones’ career is reflected in the stages they have occupied. The group have performed at the London Palladium, Royal Albert Hall and Buckingham Palace, while their appearance at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate reached an extraordinary live audience of more than one million, alongside a television audience of 15 million. Their television and touring history has established them as performers capable of turning a vocal harmony show into a genuine occasion.
Their music has also found its way into moments of national significance. Celebration, from their No.1 album 10, became the official soundtrack to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee parade, with television coverage capturing members of the Royal Family enjoying the performance. In 2022, the group brought their showmanship to the FIFA World Cup, appearing at four knockout matches, including England versus Senegal, performing to a combined audience of more than 300,000 people.
Yet The Overtones have retained a strong connection with the traditions that first made their music distinctive. Their combination of classic vocal arrangements, immaculate harmonies and carefully timed choreography has always been rooted in the pleasures of great popular entertainment. Their summer headline role in Jukebox Idols, alongside Nadiya Bychkova and Louis Smith MBE, showed that the group remain equally at home within a broader world of music, dance and theatrical spectacle.
Now the focus turns to Christmas. Beginning in Whitley Bay on November 7 and concluding at Eastbourne’s Congress Theatre on December 17, Jivin’ Home For Christmas will visit theatres including Liverpool’s Grand Theatre, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Birmingham Town Hall, Guildford’s G Live and many more. With original music also being developed alongside acclaimed songwriter and producer Eliot Kennedy, The Overtones enter their 15th year with both a celebrated past and an intriguing future.
