Funk, soul and R&B trio Molly Gone Mad tackle the anxieties of contemporary life while celebrating love, friendship and human connection on their debut album, ‘Modern World’, an ambitious 14-track release blending infectious grooves with socially conscious songwriting.

Exploring everything from climate anxiety and technological upheaval to war and social fragmentation, the album reflects the pressures of modern existence without losing sight of the joy and connection that make life worth celebrating.

“There is no point in hiding from our fears,” the band explain. “We can face them whilst still focusing on joy, human connection, love and honesty. Being a human being is beautiful.”

Rooted in funk, soul and R&B, ‘Modern World’ incorporates elements of hip-hop, jazz, psychedelic rock and dance music, combining deep grooves, heavy guitars and expansive instrumentation into a sound that refuses to be confined by genre.

The album represents years of creative development for the trio, who discarded approximately three albums' worth of material before establishing a shared creative vision for their debut.

Following an intensive writing and rehearsal process, recording began at London's Angel Studios in November 2025 before continuing at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in February 2026.

Working alongside producer Rocco Spaziani Testa, the band spent a further six months refining the arrangements, incorporating instruments including saxophone and violin to create a richer, more expansive sound.

Beyond the music, ‘Modern World’ marks the beginning of a wider creative project. Its artwork is designed as a leather-bound book, establishing a visual identity that Molly Gone Mad intend to develop across future releases.

The album will also be accompanied by a 35-minute behind-the-scenes documentary, a full-length live performance available on YouTube and a series of live shows.

Having already accumulated more than 200,000 streams and seven million combined social media views, Molly Gone Mad have steadily built momentum through multiple BBC Introducing features and a live radio session.

Their growing reputation has also seen them support acts including K.O.G, High Fade, Bare Jams and The High Points, alongside appearances on Lakefest's Main Stage and a headline performance at AberJazz.

With ‘Modern World’, Molly Gone Mad deliver a debut that acknowledges the uncertainty of contemporary life while offering a distinctly uplifting response.

Combining musical ambition with an optimistic outlook, the trio celebrate the power of music, movement and human connection to bring people together, even when the world around them feels increasingly divided.
