Liverpool Blues-Rock Outfit The Heavy North Return With Soulful New Single ‘Alive’

Liverpool blues-rock powerhouse The Heavy North return with their latest single, ‘Alive’, a passionate exploration of love, infatuation and the exhilarating uncertainty of falling for someone without knowing whether those feelings are reciprocated.
Blending the band's signature blues-rock foundations with soulful melodies and raw rock 'n' roll energy, ‘Alive’ captures the intoxicating feeling of finding someone whose presence makes everything else seem insignificant.
“‘Alive’ is essentially a love song about being infatuated with someone and not knowing if they feel the same love you feel for them,” the band explain. “A closeness and bond you share with someone almost makes you feel that nothing else in the world matters, and it can make you feel ‘alive’.”
The single was recorded in spring 2025 at guitarist and producer Jose Ibanez's 3rd Planet Recording Studio in Granada, Spain, during sessions for the band's forthcoming third studio album. Additional recording took place in Liverpool with drummer Mark Rice, before mastering by Martin Kuchta at Roughgrain Mastering.
Accompanying the release is a music video filmed at Liverpool's The Kazimier Stockroom by Luca Crispin and edited by Dan Hewitson. The visual plays on the band's live identity, creating the illusion of The Heavy North watching another version of themselves performing on stage.
Formed in Liverpool in 2018, The Heavy North have built a reputation for their powerful live performances and distinctive blend of blues, rock and soul. Their breakthrough single ‘Lying To Yourself’ attracted support from the late broadcaster Janice Long, while their 2023 sophomore album Delta Shakedown secured their first Official UK Charts entries, including #19 on the Record Store Chart and #10 on the Independent Album Breakers Chart.
The band have since headlined Liverpool's 1,200-capacity Camp and Furnace, with the performance captured on their live album and concert film Fire In The Furnace. Following the arrival of The Mysterines bassist George Favager in 2025, the group have continued evolving their sound ahead of their third studio album.
With ‘Alive’, The Heavy North deliver another soulful, energised release that celebrates the vulnerability and excitement of romantic connection while offering a taste of their next musical chapter.
