With each new release, ÆTHR continues to carve out a lane defined by bold visuals, cinematic ambition and a commitment to restoring the magic of pop’s golden era.
For him, music has never been just about sound — it’s about storytelling, world-building and giving listeners a complete experience, the kind that once made music videos feel like events rather than add-ons. Growing up glued to pop TV channels, mesmerised by the theatrical universes of Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, The Weeknd and Michael Jackson, ÆTHR absorbed the belief that visuals should elevate a song, deepen its meaning and turn it into something iconic. That philosophy now fuels his own work, including the upcoming video for ‘Santa Maria’, a project built on sleepless nights, ambition over resources, and a genuine desire to make pop feel immersive again. As he steps into his next era with the Night Out EP, we sat down with him to explore the albums and artists that shaped his imagination — and the visions that continue to guide his rise.
Since a little kid, I remember watching the pop music TV channel MCM. I would get amazed at their story telling, unique perspectives and just a whole beautiful vibe. I chose this topic specifically, because I aim with ÆTHR to bring back that feeling of the old music videos. Cinematic, bold and different.
So, one that really impacted me as a child was “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” by Katy Perry. The way the video conveys this relatable story while being funny and carefree about it, it’s just special. There are plot twists, funny moments, party moments, that really make it sound and feel like a both relatable and out of this world experience.
Other music videos that I really enjoy are “Paparazzi” by Lady Gaga, “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd, “Thriller” by Michael Jackson and “Marry the Night” by Lady Gaga. This last one is the pinnacle of what a music video should be – an extension of your art, of your vision. All artists have a vision for their music, but it turns to life with the music videos.
Marry the Night is a complete story of the song, it extends far beyond the song’s length, and it takes its time to really portray the feelings prior to the song message. That is art itself. Music videos should be about that.
With ÆTHR I want to create this type of vision, so people can feel entertained and listen more carefully to the song’s message. Doing a great music video seems in vain because there’s not much buzz about it. But really, the problem isn’t that. The problem is the lack of vision for the music videos. They need to expand your song’s story. They need to be visually striking and feel iconic.
Santa Maria music video is my second music video ever… Besides the lack of resources, I can proudly say this video tells a story. And it is part 1 of the storyline of Night Out, my first EP. It creates an atmosphere, it tells a story and it feels like the music make to life. I am very proud of the sleepless nights to get to this result. Hope people love it and can understand the vision I want to portray with it. It really is something special.
