Florence-based psych-pop visionaries Plastic Man are back with an electrifying live session filmed at GRS Recording Studio, featuring standout tracks “Molly” and “Mate” taken from their latest critically praised album, ‘The End and the Beginning’, released in April 2025, along with “He Didn’t Know” from the bands debut EP ‘Plastic Man’.
Shot in an intimate studio setting, the YouTube live session captures the band in full creative bloom, channelling their signature sonic blend of 60s psychedelia, textured pop, and darker rock undertones with a dynamic new lineup. Fronted by founding member Raffaele Lampronti, the band breathes raw energy into these songs, giving fans a powerful glimpse into the heart of their latest musical chapter.
“The End and the Beginning”, the band’s third studio album, marks a bold evolution in their decade-spanning journey. Drawing on the heavier, moodier influence of bands like Cream, while keeping alive the kaleidoscopic shimmer of XTC and 13th Floor Elevators, the record explores themes of transformation, decay, and rebirth. The live session’s featured tracks reflect this emotional and sonic breadth—from the woozy introspection of “Molly”, to the angular drive of “Mate”.
Founded in Florence, Italy in 2011, Plastic Man quickly earned a cult following across Europe and beyond, releasing their debut EP via Roman label Misty Lane in 2013. Known for their trippy yet poetic soundscapes, they’ve graced festival stages from Binic Folks Blues Festival to SXSW, sharing the stage with artists like Mick Quinn of Supergrass.
After a pandemic-induced pause, the band has reformed with fresh energy and a reinvigorated creative outlook. This live session at GRS is a statement of rebirth, channelling the band’s new sonic identity while nodding to the adventurous spirit that has defined Plastic Man from the start.
