Italian-born post-punk, synth-pop and new-wave artist 2heart2crash has unveiled his debut record, 22. The eight-track album is dark, danceable and packed with unfiltered honesty. Through his work, 2heart2crash (real name Alessio Grancini) explores themes of identity, communication, technology and emotional vulnerability. His combined music and visual art make for a cohesive and immersive creative vision.
Overall, the synth-driven record is moody in theme but bright in sound. The opener Acid is a funky start, a song about feeling detached from familiar surroundings and relationships. The infectiously catchy hook in Bad Guy lingers like an echo. Help speaks about being stubbornly resilient even in the face of emotional pain, so much so that the narrator refuses to seek help from others. A standout track is N1LikesU, confidently bold and brutally honest as the narrator determinedly stays true to themselves and rebukes external pressures and manipulation from a toxic relationship. The feel-good melodies and repeated verses in the closing song Psycho make for great earworm material. While the album is just over 20 minutes long, the album is enriched with feel-good production and thought-provoking lyrical content.
Born and raised in Italy, 2heart2crash developed his passion for music at a young age after attending multiple gigs in his hometown. Performances by international bands created an atmosphere of extreme mosh pits and unprecedented energy that left a lasting impression and was a deep inspiration behind his artistic direction.
He began his career as the lead singer of the band Edge in Imola, Emilia Romagna. The band’s first single, “Edge,” gained over 6.5K views on BlankTV, one of the largest DIY platforms for punk, hardcore, metal, indie, and underground music. Grancini produced and released a number of music and video art projects, including Graves by Parkshores featuring SuckerPunk. The work gained attention from platforms such as Earmilk, 15MinutesNews, FMS, and Alfitude.
Now living in San Francisco, Grancini wrote and produced the album entirely from his bedroom during a yearlong stay at a hacker house near North Beach. The visual component of the project was co-produced with Cole Daly, who collaborated on the videos, and Zeo Zhang (AQingZeo), who contributed to visual direction and artistic development. Final music production was completed with Johnny Hits. Immersed in a world of technology founders and startup culture, that environment left a clear imprint on both the record’s themes and its sonic palette.
“It’s made up of the conversations I’ve had with myself along the way,” says 2heart2crash. “Admitting my mistakes and the failures of communication that followed me helped me release some of the ghosts that kept reminding me how bad things once were.”
The project explores the emotional tension between digital life and real-world connections. “No one knows you better than your devices. Texting, in particular, fascinates and disturbs me, not just its utility, but the anxieties, rhythms, and expectations it carries. Many people misunderstand the tech scene. I saw firsthand the effort, the risk, and the emotional toll that comes with building something from nothing. Artists and entrepreneurs are not so different. Both must believe in a vision long before anyone else does.”
This release feels like a defining moment for 2heart2crash, a clear statement of artistic identity. The result is a record that blends underground music with contemporary culture, capturing the emotional complexity of living in an always-online world.
“This project feels urgent, honest, and sonically distinctive,” says music publicist Danielle Holian, Decent Music PR. “It captures the anxiety, beauty, and contradictions of a generation shaped by both underground music and digital life. It’s not just a record, it’s a statement about where alternative music and visual culture are heading next.”
