Madrid-born artist Andrés Costureras, the enigmatic mind behind Pshycotic Beats, returns with his boldest statement yet: the 8-track album Soundtrack Without A Movie. Leading this deeply conceptual project is the luminous single “Silence,” a piece that fuses dense electronica with sweeping orchestration to create a state of pure calm and expansive reflection.
Costureras, who defines his latest work as "electro-crooner," pushes further into a world where baroque pop, electronica, and cinematic string arrangements collide. The bones of "Silence" are built around a philosophy of stillness: "Music that illustrates the total fulfilment of mind and body, the unstoppable expansion of the five senses." The track achieves this through meticulous production, layering a live string ensemble (violin, viola, cello, and bass) across hundreds of tracks to build a vibrant, symphonic wall of sound that feels both timeless and immediate.
Soundtrack Without A Movie is designed as a 24-hour trip to the forest, a meticulously crafted sonic cycle intended to remove the listener from society’s noise, toxicity, and dystopian grip. Over eight tracks, Costureras invites breathing, dreaming, and reconnection with nature. However, true to his complex artistic nature, the album closes with a jarring confrontation, a final image of black smoke rising, threatening to suffocate the serenity that came before. This duality of escape and confrontation defines the project.
The album arrives at a deeply personal moment for Costureras, who has channelled his recent formal diagnosis of Type 2 Bipolar Disorder into art, creating music that is at once otherworldly and strikingly human.
Following a career defined by unpredictability, including his hauntingly vulnerable 2013 album Dormihcum and the cult anthem "Killer Shangri-Lah" (featured in Killing Eve), Costureras reminds us that pop music can, and should, demand our full attention. Pshycotic Beats has built a universe that is entirely his own, inviting listeners to set aside distractions and rediscover music as an art form of presence, emotion, and total immersion.
