Review: Kestine 'Another Season'

KeSTine is an Irish hip-hop artist who releases his third studio album, Another Season, today, November 15, 2024. The album follows his recent single, “Options,” a deeply personal track that set the tone for the themes explored in this project.

At its heart, Another Season reflects on time, relationships, and the pain of losing loved ones. Inspired by personal experiences, including the loss of his grandmother, KeSTine channels raw emotions into his music. “I’m praying for another season with those I love,” he says, a sentiment that echoes throughout the album. It’s a meditation on cherishing the present and navigating grief, themes that resonate deeply.

The album’s sound is a blend of styles, drawing on global influences with production from Outsider Yp and other collaborators. KeSTine’s music combines Irish hip-hop with elements of Amapiano’s soulful grooves and the introspective lyricism reminiscent of Kendrick Lamar. It’s a mix that feels both grounded and ambitious, reflecting his growth as an artist.

“Options” captures the essence of the album, delving into the emotional crossroads of grief, acceptance, and anger. The songs as a whole tell a story of life’s highs and lows, exploring hope, regret, and the desire to leave something meaningful behind.

With Another Season, KeSTine offers more than just a collection of tracks. It’s a reflective piece, inviting listeners to think about their own relationships and the moments that define them. This album feels personal and sincere, a testament to KeSTine’s ability to turn his experiences into something that connects.
