Skytinual’s 'Changing Light' Reflects on Change and Resilience

Skytinual’s reemergence with the single “Changing Light” marks a significant moment in the music world, as Dave Bush—known for his past work with Grammy-winning artists—steps into the role of a solo artist with a clear and mature voice. After a lengthy hiatus from the industry, Bush’s choice to return under the moniker Skytinual represents a deliberate and thoughtful reinvention.

“Changing Light” is a deeply introspective alt-pop track that examines life’s inevitable changes and the resilience required to face them. Inspired by his meditation practice and the recent challenges he’s witnessed in his personal life, Bush composed the song during an unexpected 24-hour layover. “The entire situation forced me to pause and reflect,” he explains. “The past year has been challenging, with close friends and family members battling cancer. I wanted to capture the beauty and weight of that experience in this song.”

The single’s instrumentation includes Bush on all instruments except bass, which is handled by Kevin Scott, known for his work with Government Mule. The blend of modern alt-pop with subtle ‘80s elements offers a unique soundscape that complements the song’s thematic depth. Bush’s decision to produce all aspects of the track underscores his commitment to an authentic, hands-on approach in his new music. As Skytinual, he is carving a new path in the music world, one that promises to offer a meaningful exploration of life’s transient moments.
