Sunny Rae Keller turns family history into new folk single ‘Carry You On’

Sunny Rae Keller has returned with “Carry You On”, a new song inspired by three generations of women in her family.

The track was written while Keller was staying at Château Orquevaux in France with her mother. Their conversations about family history prompted her to reflect on her mother’s years caring for a parent with Alzheimer’s, as well as the wider ways love and responsibility are passed between generations.

The recording pairs her voice with delicate acoustic guitar and a restrained backing arrangement, maintaining the intimate style that has become central to her recent work.

Before pursuing music more fully, she studied filmmaking in Paris and previously reached a large online audience through the children’s series Life Hacks for Kids, where she also wrote and performed the theme song.

“Carry You On” is set to feature on her forthcoming debut album Pocket.
