We love a good story here at IGNITE, and we have one for you here.

Ryan “Tastee Licks” Thomas has taken his time with Hang Fire, a track that’s been in the works since 2022 after he found the phrase in his mum’s old poetry book. After a few different iterations, it’s landed as a thoughtful pop-rock release with a clear sense of direction.

Recorded mostly from his home studio, the song layers guitars, bass, synths and vocals with a relaxed, lived in feel. A saxophone feature from Hugo Lee of Icehouse adds a subtle nod to springsteen-esque influences, sitting comfortably alongside modern pop, rock and indie artists.

At heart, Hang Fire is about procrastination and the habit of putting things off, even when it rarely helps. It’s a simple idea, delivered in a way that feels honest and easy to connect with.

Now out, the single continues to build on Thomas’ steady rise, with a live show in Newtown and more visual content on the way.
