Hull indie-rock five-piece The Avenues return with their most anthemic offering yet. 'Insomniac' is a charged reflection on the information overload of modern life and the battle to stay connected without burning out. Following support from BBC Introducing’s Jericho Keys and BBC 6Music’s Steve Lamacq for previous singles 'O.S.T.M.' and 'Haven’t Got A Prayer', the band level up once again with a track that captures the paradox of being politically aware yet emotionally overwhelmed.
Produced by Embrace’s Mickey Dale at The Cellar of Dreams, 'Insomniac' fuses soaring guitar lines and a thunderous rhythm section with the intensity of bands like Interpol and The Walkmen. Frontman Tom Foston explains, “It’s about that pressure to stay informed, support your friends, and still find time to escape the noise. Performing it live is a release — the energy is contagious.”
Armed with sharp songwriting and explosive live shows, The Avenues are making their mark far beyond Humberside.
