Two of the UK's most influential champions of East and Southeast Asian creativity are joining forces with Carlos Gu to launch East & Southeast Asian Pride UK this summer. Taking place at Electrowerkz in London on 24 July 2026, the event will celebrate queer identities, artistic expression and community solidarity through an ambitious evening of entertainment and engagement.
The Bitten Peach has built a reputation as the UK’s leading queer Asian cabaret company, presenting bold and innovative performances that challenge traditional narratives and amplify underrepresented voices. Since its founding in 2019, the organisation has created a platform for artists working across drag, burlesque, circus, dance and comedy, helping to reshape perceptions of Asian representation in the performing arts.
Alongside them is Kakilang, one of only a handful of Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisations dedicated to East and Southeast Asian communities. Through partnerships with major cultural institutions, Kakilang has spent years supporting artists and audiences while championing greater diversity across the UK's creative sector.
Their collaboration with Carlos Gu signals an exciting new chapter for queer Asian visibility. The event’s programme has been carefully designed to balance celebration with community-building, beginning with a market fair and networking opportunities before moving into a major showcase of performance talent and a late-night club experience.
As conversations around representation continue to evolve within both the music and cultural sectors, East & Southeast Asian Pride UK arrives at a significant moment. By creating a dedicated space for queer East and Southeast Asian communities to gather, perform and celebrate, the organisers hope to establish a lasting legacy that extends far beyond a single night in London.
