Ava Della Pietra just turned one of modern friendship’s most painful rites of passage — getting third-wheeled — into a shimmering, tongue-in-cheek pop anthem. Her latest single “Single For Life” doesn’t wallow in self-pity; instead, it dances through the disappointment, doling out sugary synths, playful punchlines, and a chorus that begs to be sung with ice cream in hand.

Produced by Alex Koste (Cheat Codes, Loote), the track delivers on every pop front: crisp vocal production, a polished hook that sticks on repeat, and just enough vulnerability to make it matter. Lyrically, Ava captures the sting of being ditched for a new relationship with bite and charm.

The accompanying video leans into the absurd with pitch-perfect comedic timing. One second, she’s painting nails at a picture-perfect slumber party, and the next she’s speed-dating her way through bizarre characters (including a guy cuddling an iguana) like it’s the world’s weirdest rom-com montage. That willingness to be weird and to be in on the joke is part of what makes Ava stand out in the crowded pop landscape.

But make no mistake: behind the fun is serious polish. With over 27 million streams, 21 singles, and dozens of international film festival nods, Ava is already a seasoned creator at just 20. Her early Broadway roots (School of Rock) and current double life as a Harvard/Berklee student studying biology and music theory only deepen the intrigue. She’s pop’s overachiever; brainy, ambitious, and unafraid to crack a joke about her own heartbreak.
