eranine refuses to make pain pretty for the sake of it

There’s a fine line between writing about darkness and glamorising it, and eranine walks it carefully on “Bear Witness”.
The Florida artist’s latest single deals with trauma and lost innocence, but the darkness isn’t the point. It’s the raw material. What eranine is after is truth told without romance, something heavy turned into something another person might recognise themselves in.
That takes a lot out of them. “I’ll gut myself from the inside out and end just to begin again, if it means turning something painful into something that can exist outside of me,” they say.
Yet “Bear Witness” lands on survival, not despair. “Forever only exists in our minds,” eranine explains. “Everything passes, even the deepest wounds.”
It’s also the opening chapter of something bigger. eranine has been quietly building a body of work with recurring imagery and symbolism, tackling subjects most people avoid in conversation: betrayal, guilt, trauma bonds, religion and the feeling of being trapped.
All of it done independently, by an artist who has already played Lollapalooza and Sick New World and toured with Slowdive. A music video is on the way.
