Ace Rose, the boundary-breaking rapper, returns with the music video for his latest single, "Go for Broke". This gritty and introspective track offers a profound glimpse into Ace Rose's journey, from his European roots to his upbringing in the heart of LA's hip-hop scene. We talk to Ace Rose about the gamechanging video release...

Hey Ace Rose, how are you? The visuals for ‘Go For Broke’ are amazing. It’s so great that you’re down to talk to us!
Thank you for the love! Of course, when we worked on the treatment I wanted to put the setting of the poker table in to show the gamble of being an artist. Of me driving to this game and walking into a room to lay down my cards to show myself as a hip-hop artist coming into this industry. The rest of the video was just dope s**t that we saw on location.
‘Go For Broke’ is such an empowering anthem of a track. Can you elaborate on how the themes manifested in the lyrics’?
I make music for myself first and whatever made me write that day..."I ain’t trying be saved,
take your handout out the way, so I'ma go broke, till I finally get paid” was what I needed to hear. And from there I just dived in and made that message clearer.
Who are some of your biggest musical influences throughout your life, and how have they impacted your sound?
I grew up on everything from Pink Floyd to Lil Wayne to Nas and Eminem and Kendrick. I’m just a blend of everything before. Pink Floyd to me screams epic, so production-wise I love crazy outros like on GFB. Rapping-wise, the animation of Eminem and punchlines like him and Lil Wayne. Kendrick and Nas are the level of authenticity and storytelling that I try to even get close to in my own way.
How do you stay inspired and motivated to create new music?
It could be beats that I get sent, or working with my boy “atmostfears” that inspires me. It could also be hearing a new song and having that competition fuel the fire of the next record. It could be a conversation I had with a person that I wanted to punch in the face and I put that in my lyrics. So everything and nothing at the same time.
Your music blends elements of hip-hop and rock. If you could create a playlist with three of your songs and three songs from your biggest influences, what would you pick?
Wow, great question!
One Mic from Nas
Sing About Me from Kendrick
A Milli from Lil Wayne
And from mine, these will be unreleased songs but f**k it!
This hour
Delusions
And we will say Go For Broke so I don’t spoil another...
When you're not making music, what do you love to do to unwind and stay inspired? Any favourite hobbies or guilty pleasures?
I love comic book movies so the perfect afternoon for me is watching Iron man or Infinity War with guacamole and chips.
Looking back at your journey in music, what’s been the most unexpected lesson, place, or piece of advice that’s stuck with you?
That nobody knows what’s gonna work, you just have to trust yourself and your intuition.
That's so true, Ace Rose. Thanks so much for talking with us!
