Find My Way feels very tied to this time of year. What was in the air when you wrote it?
I wrote this song with Martello in Stockholm in late September, which I think led to the cosy, warm feeling. We actually decided to speed write the song, which is not something I usually do in sessions, but we were having a tough time with another song, so we set a timer for 90 minutes and this is what came out. What I love about it is that we didn’t have time to overthink any of our lyrics or be precious about any aspect of the song. It ended up being one of the most honest songs I’ve ever written.
You’ve worked with Martello before. What keeps pulling you back into the studio together?
We very much just clicked from the get-go. I’ve only had this feeling once or twice in my life, so I know it’s special. It’s not something that you can really explain too much, but there’s chemistry there that leads to magic. I’m excited to share the other songs we’ve been working on, and hopefully we get back into the studio in the new year to make more.
When a song is finished, how do you know it’s ready to be shared and not just
kept for yourself?
I’m not actually too much of a perfectionist when it comes to my music. I know that you
can overwork a song and I’ve done that in the past, so I’m very careful to cut myself off
once it feels right. I try not to over-listen to demos, and I go off instinct nowadays. I also
love that once you share a song, it’s not really yours anymore, so it’s a good practice in
letting go.
Do you write differently now compared to your earlier releases, or do you trust the
Same instincts?
100%, I write differently. My debut EP, ‘Feels So Right’ was born out of trusting my gut and
deciding to make music that felt right for me. I spent many years listening to others’ opinions, before I considered how important my own opinion was. It sounds straight forward, but for me it took some time.
What’s the first thing you hope someone feels when they hear Find My Way for the
first time?
There’s no right answer here. I just hope that they feel something. I know how special it
is for me when music does that. I’ve listened to songs and they’ve completely changed my
day, or helped me process something. It’s so cool that music has that power, and I’m happy to be able to pay it forward.
Do you see Find My Way as a bridge between your last release and what’s coming
next?
Yes, actually! Somewhere between ‘sad girl songs’ and ‘uplifting soul’. I’ve got lots to come in 2026 so stay tuned!
