Korean-born electronic artist Senior Dunce steps into the spotlight with the release of his latest dance single “City Centre”, a high-energy track built on groovy rhythms, fast house textures, and a deep emotional undercurrent. Best known behind the scenes as a sound designer, producer, educator, and former club owner, Senior Dunce now emerges as a solo artist, bringing two decades of creative experience into a vibrant, boundary-pushing debut.

“City Centre” is more than just a dance track — it’s a sonic memoir of belonging and identity, inspired by Senior Dunce’s time living in Liverpool, UK. As a foreigner navigating language and cultural barriers, his accidental mispronunciation of “centre” as “centray” became a moment of unexpected connection with his local Scouser friends.

“Those were the days I felt completely lost yet deeply cared for,” he says. “I couldn’t sleep many nights, overwhelmed by my outsider identity. But my friends helped me feel seen — and that feeling is immortalized in this track.”

With its upbeat, groovy drive and emotional undertones, “City Centre” captures that duality: the loneliness of being out of place, pulsing beneath the surface of euphoric dancefloor energy. Mixed and mastered by Cass Irvine (Wired Masters), the production blends textured synths, kinetic drums, and layered vocals that reflect Senior Dunce’s obsession with sonic detail.

The track features a mysterious British vocalist — who chose to remain unnamed — singing in a deliberately off-accented English to mirror Dunce’s own linguistic awkwardness. A brief Korean rap section performed by GIMPADO adds another layer of cultural hybridity, blurring genres and identities.

The accompanying music video, produced by long-time collaborator Muturn, brings the track’s emotional DNA to life through movement and party-inspired visuals. Though Muturn wasn’t given a full lyrical translation, he instinctively translated the song’s vibe into dance, creating a visual narrative that pulses with intimacy and abandon.

As his name suggests, Senior Dunce is an artist who turns self-deprecation into defiant celebration. Shaped by early struggles with bullying, rejection, and alienation, he uses music as a form of personal liberation. Known for his eccentricity and obsession with kick drums, Senior Dunce challenges societal norms and finds beauty in imperfection. “City Centre” marks a new artistic chapter — and a declaration that outsiderhood can dance.
