Excerpted from her forthcoming four-track extended play, Goodbye Party, which explores the liberating sensation of putting pen to paper and turning away from the past, Kelsey Kindall’s returns with her latest single ‘Whiplash’ bringing listeners from denial and recklessness to awareness and strength.
The sonic landscape of ‘Whiplash’ is a testament to Kelsey’s unparalleled originality enables her to move across genres with ease. Many of her experiences with perplexing relationships and conflicting signals served as the basis for the track. Being aware of how common this familiarity is, she made an effort to manage the power dynamics that contribute to the fatal misreading of contemporary dating. Having worked in theatre before, she draws the audience in with her humorous narration in between songs. Her voice is full of promise, excitement, inspiration, and celebration as she asks people to share this vulnerable space with her.
“We wanted to create a song that was addicting to listen to, fun to dance to, and powerful to sing along to. I love the early 2000s pop icons, and I feel like the pop scene is making a comeback with so many breakout women lately. I wanted to lean into that world and pay tribute to the pop icons while staying in a familiar alternative world where my music lands,” Kelsey Kindall comments on the release.
