New Music Pick: Jensyn’s ‘Trust’ Is Your Next Overthinking-Spiral Anthem

Some songs you put on because you want to feel good. Others you put on because you need someone else to articulate the exact mess in your head, and somehow that makes you feel better anyway. ‘Trust’, the new single from Liverpool artist Jensyn, is firmly the second kind.

Jensyn, who uses they/them pronouns, has had an incredible run this year: this is the third single in a trilogy that kicked off back in May, and it might be the best one yet. ‘Trust’ leans into alt-rock and prog territory, all gritty guitars and shifting, unpredictable structure, building to a finale that feels less like a chorus and more like an exhale.

The track was written after Jensyn ended a relationship and then spiralled into the kind of self-doubt that anyone with an anxious brain will recognise instantly: knowing you made the right call and still feeling like the worst person alive about it. In their own words: “This is the song that came from overthinking so much that I lost all sense of what I believed was right or wrong.” Relatable does not begin to cover it.

If you have not already added Jensyn to your rotation, ‘Trust’ is the perfect entry point. Stream it, then go back and catch up on ‘Somebody Else’ and ‘Throw’ while you are at it.
