Three years ago, Sæfari began his return to songwriting after a ten-year break, driven by a need to create music that would allow him to understand himself and the world around him
Inspired by artists like Nick Cave, Bonnie Prince Billy, PJ Harvey, and Jeff Buckley, many influences seep through in Sæfari’s ability to capture complex emotions. Teaming up with legendary Icelandic producer Sigurður Guðmundsson, Sæfari crafted Wolfheart with a blend of acoustic and steel guitars, piano, synthesisers, string quartet, Hammond organ, and more, to evoke rich emotional textures. Additional creative support in London came from Marco Pasquariello on mixing and Guy Davie on mastering, helping to bring out the album’s hauntingly intimate and raw sound.

So many albums come to mind but at this moment in my life, I will go for these...
Five Leaves Left - Nick Drake
This album is just pure magic when it comes to songwriting and delivering those songs on a recording. Such meaningful lyrics, mesmerizing vocals and spellbinding compositions. I often find myself journaling while listening to it and other Nick Drake music.
B-Sides, Demos & Rarities - PJ Harvey
I have a thing for unfinished music because it often reveals the essence of the artist and the music as well. I enjoy studying my heroes and this collection of demos by PJ Harvey gives a detailed insight into the essence of her songwriting. It has captivated and inspired me countless times and I imagine it will continue to do so for a long time.
Above - Mad Season
When I first heard this album, I became completely obsessed with it. It was on repeat for weeks. I still listen to it regularly and it always brings me a sense of coming home.
Sketches For My Sweetheart The Drunk - Jeff Buckley
Another unfinished album, this collection of demos has haunted me for decades and will always have a place in my heart. This level of rawness and intimacy is so rare and I always feel like I’ve had a lovely visit from a dear friend after listening to it.
Keeping Secrets Will Destroy You - Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy
I never really got into BPB until recently and now I’m completely obsessed. His spirited vocals and soul baring lyrics have put a spell on me and I’ve found myself in complete awe of most of his albums but this one stands out for me. I can’t explain why, other than simply I connect the most with it and I keep coming back to it to indulge in its beauty. He also released a song called “Keeping Secrets Will Destroy You” shortly after releasing the album that I’ve also become obsessed with recently and gives me a deep pleasure to sing along with.
