Kenton Mackay ****** is a brand new artist hailing from Austin Texas. Since his debut single 'Golden Boy' he has released a string of infectious and enthralling grunge rock singles, inspired by the likes of Nirvana and Radiohead, with his booming baritone voice and personality intertwined.
His debut EP 'In Good Taste' is a rollercoaster ride of rock 'n' roll, with the roaring lead single 'My Brain Is Fucked' thrashing through your mind with its DIY and garage like brand of rock. It's refreshing and raw, and the authenticity shines through in this 5-track record from Mackay. We sat down with him to chat about the release, what's coming up for him and why you should check out his music. Check it out here at Ignite!

Hey Kenton, welcome to Ignite! How are you doing?
Doing fine, Thanks
Sum up your music for us in three words?
Eclectic Garage Rock
Congratulations on your debut EP, 'In Good Taste'! We're loving it, how does it feel to release your first body of work?
Feels great. Spent a lot of time agonising over it, so it feels good to finally have it out there
What were your favourite parts of recording this EP?
I like the isolation of recording and letting the ideas flow naturally. The best part is figuring out how to engineer a sound that I hear in my head.
Lead single 'My Brain is Fucked' is such a fun, care-free track that really takes us back. Was this the energy you went into when writing and recording this song?
Not really, I agonised over that one haha. Couldn't get it to sound right, but I eventually got it to work.
Who are your main influences as a musician?
I'd say the big 3 are Nirvana, Radiohead, and Beck (in no particular order)
Any live shows planned?
Not at the moment. I'm taking some time to write record, and promote In Good Taste.
And finally, what can we expect from Kenton Mackay ****** in the future?
Lots of songs and ideas planned for the future. I'm slowly figuring out how to put it all together. I'm getting there though.
