If you thought London’s Red Mercury were already pushing the limits of electronic music, their new single “People are to Love” proves they’re just getting started. Producer Steve Gregory and vocalist/writer Isobel Crawford have crafted a track that’s part cinematic techno, part progressive house, and 100% immersive, a sound that works as beautifully on the festival mainstage as it does through headphones at home.

Joining them on this journey is Hong Kong-based Gargoyle Girlfriend (Rachel McInerney), whose ethereal vocals and cyberpunk-inspired lyrics add a whole new layer of intrigue. The song captures that dizzying thrill of arriving in a new city, something both Steve and Rachel have experienced firsthand, and turns it into a futuristic, danceable story.

Built almost entirely on Red Mercury’s modular synth setup, “People are to Love” moves from hypnotic, widescreen soundscapes to full-on club energy without missing a beat. Think BT meets Boris Brejcha with a touch of Sub Focus, dark, intoxicating, and undeniably cinematic. It’s the kind of track that makes you want to press play, close your eyes, and let it take you somewhere else entirely.

The collaboration started as a chance Instagram connection in 2025, and the remote teamwork just clicked. Shared interests in sci-fi, cyberpunk, and forward-thinking electronic music turned into a fully realized, globe-spanning release. And with more Red Mercury sets across the UK and Asia, plus follow-ups already in the works, it’s clear they’re not just making tracks, they’re shaping a whole electronic world.

“People are to Love” is hypnotic, cinematic, and packed with dancefloor energy. For Red Mercury (and now Gargoyle Girlfriend), it’s another bold step in carving out a distinctly forward-looking, emotive brand of EDM.
